About Midlands Shockwave & Physiotherapy Clinic
At Midlands Shockwave and Physiotherapy Clinic in Sutton Coldfield, we are dedicated to offering a quality and timely service to adults and children in need of help for their injuries, operations or conditions. We have a particular specialty and clinical expertise with shockwave therapy, which is recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) for the treatment of persistent conditions.
Our current clinic base is at the prestigious Sutton Medical Consulting Centre within Ashfurlong Medical Centre. The location of our clinic has enabled patients from Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham and Staffordshire to access a physiotherapist for treatment and thus receive the quality of care that they require in a timely fashion.
We offer physiotherapy for a wide variety of conditions. More information on these can be found in the Services section of the website.
We have built a fantastic team of physiotherapists that specialise in many therapy services, for example:

- Children’s Physiotherapy
All of our therapists are highly qualified and experienced in their fields. As a result, each patient receives a thorough assessment and treatment plan to suit their needs and requirements.
Meet The Team
Steve Hakner - Lead Physiotherapist
Steve has been a chartered physiotherapist since 2004.
His speciality is the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions with a special interest in Shockwave Therapy. He has been using this particular treatment method with any of his patients that he feel would benefit and has been very pleased with the results. Check out our Shockwave Therapy page to see if you feel this treatment would benefit you or get in touch to ask.
Steve has extensive experience, including working at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital for many years, managing and rehabilitating complex spinal, upper and lower limb MSK problems, as well as working in several MSK settings.
As well as Shockwave Therapy, Steve uses a variety of treatment techniques, including manual therapy, acupuncture and exercise-based therapy. Whether the problem is acute, a longstanding issue or post-operative, he will ensure the best approach is taken, so maximum recovery is achieved.
Nikki Warren - Specialist Physiotherapist - Acupuncture
Nikki has been a qualified Chartered Physiotherapist since 2005. She spent 8 years working in trauma and orthopaedics and has specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. Nikki now works in an Advanced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy role both privately and in the NHS.
Nikki has a special interest in acupuncture for pain management and facial rejuvenation. She will be happy to answer any of your queries when it comes to acupuncture and musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
Leanne Job - Specialist Physiotherapist - Musculoskeletal Conditions
Leanne has been a Chartered Physiotherapist for over 15 years and has worked in both secondary care and the private sector. She has extensive musculoskeletal experience that includes gym and post-surgery rehabilitation and currently divides her work time between her advanced physiotherapy role at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and her independent work.
Leanne has a comprehensive qualification portfolio that includes acupuncture, pilates and the Orthopaedic Medicine Diploma.
Leanne is especially interested in the shoulder and enjoys using acupuncture to complement her practice.
Christina Peak - Specialist Children's Physiotherapist
Christina qualified as a physiotherapist back in 2005 and began her career at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton before specialising in paediatrics in 2007.
She has benefitted from a wide variety of experience in both the hospital and community settings and as a result she has a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of paediatrics.
Christina has a particular passion for developmental co-ordination disorder (DCD) / dyspraxia and has run many DCD clinics in different settings in both the NHS and independent clinics.
Whilst the NHS physiotherapy services are fantastic, Christina understands that sometimes families would like to see a physiotherapist more quickly or more often than what the NHS can provide. Everybody is different. She loves the fact that by providing a service she can offer excellent communication and control to families over their children’s care.
Healthcare can be a minefield of jargon, which can be very intimidating for some. A line that most of Christina's patients have heard from her is ‘we like to say long Latin words to make ourselves sound clever!’ and so she likes to ensure that she speaks in as plain English as possible (though she does like to show off occasionally with a few Latin words).
